Whilst playing golf I hit a stray shot which hit another golfer and he now says he will be suing me. Can he do this?
I was playing golf yesterday and I hit a stray shot which accidently hit anouther golfer. Despite the fact that I shouted "fore" the other golfer was very upset and said that he would be suing me. Can he do this? It was definitely an accident and I obviously did not set out to harm him.
Unless he was very seriously injured, it is unlikely that the claim would be worth enough to be pursued. In any event, and as with most sporting activities, by agreeing to participate in sport you accept a certain amount of risk associated with that sport. It is therefore unlikely that he would have a claim against you.
